Otraco's international expansion wins WA Industry award

Otraco International’s phenomenal overseas growth was recognised at the WA Industry and Export Awards on 25 October, with a win in the Minerals and Energy category.
Starting with a single operation at Mt Whaleback Mine in Newman, WA in 1972, Otraco won its first international contract in 1994. It now employs 230 people at five sites in Chile, 300 people at eight sites in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia, and almost 300 people at 33 sites Australia and New Zealand.
Otraco’s services are linked to over one third of the world’s iron ore production, a fifth of all copper mines, 14 per cent of diamond mines and 12 per cent of platinum production.
As the winner of the Minerals and Energy category for WA, Otraco now becomes a finalist in the same category in the Australian Export Awards, which will be held in Melbourne on 26 November.
